Free email checker
Paste any email address. We'll validate its syntax, check the domain's mail servers, detect disposable providers, and flag role-based addresses — all in one click. No signup.
How the free email checker works
Most "is this email valid" questions can be answered with three checks, no API needed:
- 1. Syntax. Does the address match the RFC-5322 format? Catches typos like
john@@gmail.cominstantly. - 2. Domain MX records. We query DNS for the mail-exchange records of the domain. No MX = no mail server = the address can't possibly receive email.
- 3. Disposable check. We maintain a live list of 5,400+ disposable-email providers (Mailinator, 10MinuteMail, Yopmail, etc.) — refreshed weekly.
- 4. Role detection. Addresses like
admin@,support@,noreply@are usually shared inboxes — risky for cold outreach.
What the free tool can't catch
Some scenarios require talking to the destination mail server directly. For those, we built the paid product:
- → Mailbox doesn't exist. The domain has MX records but the specific inbox is deactivated or never existed.
- → Catch-all domains. Some companies accept mail to any address — the free tool can't tell which one is real.
- → Spam traps. Mailbox addresses that exist only to flag senders. Free tool can't detect.
- → Greylisting. Server temporarily refuses mail; needs intelligent retry.
For these you need a live SMTP probe — try MailoClean free (100 verifications on signup).
Frequently asked questions
Is this email checker really free?
Yes — completely free, unlimited use, no signup required. You get up to 30 checks per minute and 500 per day per IP.
How accurate is the free email checker?
Around 80%. The free tool uses syntax validation, DNS MX-record lookup, and a 5,400+ disposable-email blocklist. For 99% accuracy with live SMTP mailbox-exists verification, upgrade to MailoClean — 100 credits free at signup.
Does it work for any email provider?
Yes — Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail, ProtonMail, and every custom business domain. We check the domain's actual mail servers via DNS, not provider-specific APIs.
Will the recipient know I checked their email?
No. We never send an email to the address — only DNS lookups against the domain. Recipients see nothing.
What's the difference between this and MailoClean's paid verifier?
The free tool stops at MX/disposable check. The paid product also opens an SMTP connection to the destination server and verifies the mailbox actually exists — catching catch-all domains, deactivated accounts, and spam traps the free tool can't see.
Is my email data stored?
Only ephemerally in DNS cache (10 min). We don't log the addresses you check or share them with anyone.
